My name is Chris DiMaggio. I began with graphic design and illustration for my BFA, and continued with design & technology for my MFA. My first job was working for Lella and Massimo Vignelli in what could be considered the ultimate designer’s environment because their multi-discipline practice was a playground for every aspect of design from print and branding, to furniture, to interiors and exhibits, with the best of clients one could ask for.
That experience has stayed with me, and kept me hungry to always be involved in multiple disciplines of design, hungry for new technologies and methods for communicating ideas and stories. After Vignelli, I spent a lot of time working at some amazing agencies including Siegel+Gale, Interbrand and Ogilvy Health, holding technical and creative positions across these agencies such as manager of implementation, senior motion designer, to design principal. Today, I am working as a designer/director – a maker and a storyteller – designing, animating, developing. No matter what the challenge is, or what the medium is, the goal is always the same: simple, intelligent, beautiful.
Designing and producing, I am hands-on with all my projects. Whether it be a website, a brand system, motion toolkit, brand video or a credit card, I really enjoy the creativity of the design process as much as the technical process of production. I work on all things digital: motion, video, 3D, UX, experiential installations. Animation and 3D are really the things that are close to my heart. It feels natural, and feels like home.
